Need of Restoring the Median and Just Society

Unprincipled polity, putting the national interests on sale for making fortunes by members of the ruling elite, damaging the dignity and integrity of the country for trivial personal gains, clash of the constitutional institutions, corruption, nepotism, money plundering and exploitation on highest level, as a news, have ceased to attract so more attention of the people making them hung about TV screens. Suicide bombing, in the Masajid (mosques) and shrines, is so common that such incidents have remained not a startling thing now. Target killings in Karachi and drone attacks brutally killing one dozen or a bit more innocent people every day neither bothers head of the state nor moves the prime minister and any member of his cabinet. This common practice now does not unnerve any section of our society. Even any feeling of disquiet is not seen in the government circles, social reform organizations and political and religious parties on a rising phenomenon of killing the close relative by siblings, parents, uncles, nephews and cousins.

On one side our senses are rapidly going dull and on the other hand nature seems to have has taken back our quality of tolerance and forbearance. Our mild nature is speedily harmed. Continuous scenes of carnage have made us so used to see the pools of blood that nothing like this now disturbs our routines of eating, enjoying the excursions and picnics. Feelings of pity and sympathy are gradually subdued by the ferocity. Our sensitivity and conscious is going lost. Our Holy Prophet, SAW, was once enormously grieved on killing of a child of nonbelievers by a Muslim soldier in the battlefield but we feel not a miner prickling in our hearts on massacre of our children, women and elderly people by our own military forces and also by the NATO forces. Perhaps, as a society, we are on the verge of our humane, moral and spiritual extermination.

Exaggeration in media stories, fire spitting in speeches and heat in talks develops the culture of severity. With the growth of this culture minds get satisfaction only in hyperbolizing the issues and making the things look larger than what actually they are. Inflammatory way of expression has become an evil social trend in our society mostly nurtured by the politicians, religious leaders and the writers. Volubility and not the argument is an effective weapon left in their armoury for victory. Embroidering the things is thought only popular mode to attract the attentions. Extremism is the sour and deadly fruit of the same act of pushing the people away from temperateness. As an excessively puffed out balloon burst out, immense embellishments even in making false promises to the people end with negative sentiments of great disappointment, aversion and anger, sometime arousing extremism, the second name of terrorism.

The flames of unending foreign aggressions in our neighbour caused our house catch the fire. Every time we repeated the mistake of owning the war, which actually was never and still is not ours. Standing with America as a front line ally just for appeasing and winning her good will or in greed of dollars has brought material destruction for our country and moral disorders in our society. Most of our intellectuals, analysts, columnists and the governments on the whole ignored this cause of terrorism and still doing the same. In the result terrorism grew overwhelmingly. Anyhow, the feelings of rage, revenge, hatred, bias and emotionalism, how big reasons of their incitement may be, because they drive to extremism, so are unwholesome and morally unapproved behaviours.

Every community and followers of any religion or any ideology has some significant characteristics. An illustrious quality of the Muslim Ummah is to be Ummatan Wasatan, a median and just community, on the face of the earth. In its beliefs and behaviors, its stands and acts and in its dealings and relations it has to stick to the values of moderation (Aitdal aur Tawazan) has preference over all other manners. Our Holy Prophet, SAW, is reported to have said: ‘Khairul Amore Awsatoha’ (The best way in the dealings and matters is between the two extremes){Behaqi}. The Prophet, SAW, once repeatedly said: “ Ruined are those who show to be boorish and extremist.” We every vibrant sensitive segment of the society must come up to restore our quality of a median and just community.
