Helpers of Allah, the All-Mighty, All-Wise

The Messengers came to the mankind with convincing arguments and clear proofs (Al-Bayyenat) testifying the Existence of a Being, on Whose Will and Power depends the survival of entire universe. That Being was known to the mankind with the name Allah and His ninety nine epithetic and attributive names. Allah, the Exalted, sent His Messengers with the Book which contained the guidance to the right path, leading to His Will and to the success in this earthly life and also in the life Hereafter. The Holy Quran, final and perfect part of the Book (Al-Kitab) encompasses all the aspects of life and basis of justice on which man has to establish his entire system of life.

The purpose of revealing the Book (Al-Kitab) was not and never will be other than that the Truth sent by the Lord of the worlds and the Way of Life given by him, which is the fittest for the mankind to follow, overcome all other crooked ways, be at the top of all man made false systems and surmount all the deceptive ideologies. Here a question rises who will do the service to make Allah’s Deen and Islamic Faith prevailing and triumph over all other man’s innovated systems? Allah is All-Powerful and All-Mighty, not in want of help for the great Cause of making His Deen upper handed against all other man’s fabricated creeds. Allah has Power to get that done by only uttering the word ‘kun’ (be). His angels are in His service to implement His Will. He can use the creatures like tiny birds and many other elements of nature to make the mission accomplished miraculously. But then there remains no room for any role of the believers to play. The proof of their excellence as faithful and obedient servants of Allah becomes needless. The proclamation of high reward for those who struggle for the sacred cause and endure afflictions stays null and void.

A Mujahid is the Helper of Allah

Establishing five times prayers, fasting in the month of Ramadhan, performing Hajj, paying Zakat and observing some moral values, are no doubt very important and highly required things in Islam. But concept of Ibadah to the above mentioned noble deeds makes Islam restricted to a collection of only some rituals and rite and it becomes incoherent to its claim of being the perfect code of life. The blessings of Islam promised for the loyal servants of Allah are guaranteed only when Islam is made predominant as a system of life. The highest level of devotion to the Faith is to be concerned about spreading the teachings of Islam with all positive and peaceful means.

The most appropriate way is to approach as many people as possible, to admonish them on their wrong doings. Redemption of the believers depends mostly, along with their own good deeds, on their concern about salvation of others from the torment of Hell by the venture of sincere Da’wa (Call to Islam). The true believers never remain at the rest without standing for the Cause of Islam. They regard themselves responsible to spread the teachings of Islam. They try their best to make the message of Allah reached the people who are still unaware of the blessings of Islam. They invest their time, energy, wisdom and wealth in enhancing the Cause of Islam. They strive hard to change the state of ignorance and remove the obstacles of stubbornness from the path of Da’wa, using the moral weapon of love, well wishing and tolerance. They are ready to sacrifice their moments of rest, their worldly interests and material resources available to them. Even when they are called to present the most precious things in the way of Allah, they do not hesitate to offer their lives.

Gaining purification of heart, reformation of the society, spreading the radiance of knowledge, holding the torch of morality and spirituality, enjoining the good and forbidding the bad, confronting the opponents of Islam with boldness and willingly putting the most dear things at stake to sacrifice, are all different stages and parts of Jehad and really helping Allah.

Those who have believed are urged to follow the example of the disciples of Isa [(Jesus) AS):

“O you who believe, be you helpers (in the Noble Cause) of Allah as said Isa, son of Maryam (Mary) to the Hawariyyun: “Who are my helpers (in the Cause of Allah?)” The disciples said: “We are helpers of Allah.” (As-Saff: 14)

Here we find a very interesting point. Isa (Jesus) called his disciples to support him in his sacred mission but the disciples rightly regarded themselves the helpers of Allah, the All-Mighty. The next part of the same verse tells us that by this remarkable attitude of submissiveness to Allah, the Most Exalted and Most High, they qualified themselves for gaining Allah’ help and became victorious against their enemies.

A loving father always showers his affections on his little child. He amusingly tasks him something light and easy. The pure nature of the child does not find pretexts to avoid doing what his father asks him to do. He tries but his weakness hinders. The compassionate father stands, holds his child in his arms with the thing he had tried to lift and says: “Look! My son has picked up this heavy thing.” Actually it is father and not the tiny child who has lifted the object but fondly and encouragingly he gives the credit to his child. Allah wants to help and bestow His Blessings on His servants. What they have to do is, of course, difficult for them to accomplish. Allah does for them immensely more than the father in the above mentioned parable, does for his child. He not only attributes the result to their spirit and efforts but the title of ‘The Helpers of Allah’ confers upon them.

“…Verily, Allah will help those who help Him (His Cause). Truly, Allah is all-Strong, All-Mighty.” (Al-Hajj: 40)

“O you who believe, If you help (in the Cause of) Allah, He will help you, and make your foothold firm.” (Muhammad: 7)

For more than last five centuries the Muslim Ummah is suffering the miseries and afflictions. Why? Because it is now a tired and bewildered community, fearful and distracted, proving good for nothing. It is now far from the spirit which was the distinctive feature of the early Muslims. The reason how the nations rise and what causes them fall, mentioned in the Quran and Ahadith of the Messenger of Allah, be peace and blessings of Allah upon him, are no more the matter to pay heed to. Most of the Muslims, constantly showing an imprudent behavior, are taken in by self deception of having only their right on Paradise and being safe from the Hell Fire. They forget the fact that their honour in this life and success in the life Hereafter is conditional upon how much honour they earn for Islam by their struggle for the Noble Cause they live for. A Hadith tells us:

“Bring respect and grace for Islam, Allah will give you honour and respect.” Al-Delmi)

In another Hadith the same fact comes in a bit different way:

“If a Muslim wants to know his position in the sight of Allah, should see what position for Allah he has in his heart. Because Allah gives the position to His servant at equal proportion to what the servant has the position of Allah (Cause of Allah) in his heart.” (Al-Hakim)

“(Among the believers) The one who wants to know what is there for him with Allah, should see how much (love, devotion and sacrifice) he has with him for Allah.” (Al-Darqutni)

Those who very sincerely put up themselves as the living models of Islamic teachings and bring grace and pride for Islam with the constant and tireless efforts, with all available sources, on the intellectual and social front, even in the battlefield, with sacrifice of life, physical energies, wealth and time, to make it predominate are helpers of Allah.
