Actuality of Profit and Loss

Denying the Day of Resurrection and fearlessness of standing accountable in front of Allah, the Most Exalted is one of the enormous basic reasons behind turpitude and degeneracy of morally spoiled people. Injustice, wrongdoings and abasing the humanity is a common custom of most of the atheist and materialistic societies because there the people, particularly the upper class of the society, feel free from any answerability before any authority higher to them. Caring about the rights of the people regarded lower and despicable is an absurd thing to think about. Thus exploitation and manipulation becomes a set order of that society.

The people lacking the fear of getting seized and produced in the Court of the Lord of the worlds, where no one will dare to slink away without replying about how the entire life, and youth was passed, how the wealth was accumulated and where it was spend, how much amount of knowledge was gained and to what extent the life got elapsed in the light of that knowledge, are excessively duped. They use their guile and bluff manners to gain power and amass piles of wealth fraudulently as if they are here foe ever to live. The worst example in this case is of the ruling elites in Muslim Ummah who think themselves above all the accountabilities.

Ali Zainulabidin of Tunisia, Hosni Mubarak of Egypt, Gaddafi of Libya and Abdullah Ali Saleh of Yemen ruled their countries for decades with the same self-deception. Bashar Al-Asad is committing the crime of mass killing in Syria with the same nature and destined to the meet the same downfall. And now when four out of these five cruel despotic rulers have been kicked out their power with curse and humiliation, ignobility of their end must have served as warning for others but intoxication of power deadens the senses and the rulers remain unable to get a severe reprimand admonition from the far back or very recent past.

In Pakistan, for instance, taking no message from how nature’s whip lashed on the backs of the deposed rulers in the countries, the people at the top posts and their retinues are sunk to their necks in corruption. Instead of surrendering to the decisions of the courts and showing their regrets on their evils, they are intent on pestering the courts. They think their foxy tricks enough to make the courts bow to their authorities. With the rise of every morning they are with fresh Machiavellian thoughts of making the court hearings against them abortive.

They are relying mostly on their craftiness but they forget when the time comes guesstimating will be impossible from where the Divine Blow is coming to hit them. The time they think escape for them is an ephemeral respite, actually making the noose tightened around their necks day by day.

Their power hunger and wealth greed is actually the upshot of fallacious conception of ‘profit’ and ‘loss’. This mistaken belief grows from a wrong attitude and erroneous idea about life. As hinted above, a materialist, having no faith in the life Hereafter, takes this worldly life to be the final and everlasting abode. So, naturally he wants not to be a loser and disadvantaged. He tries his best to make this abode full of comforts and adornments. Who is loser in fact and who is the profit gainer is a serious question and the Quran comes with the perfect answer to this question. This error of thinking in finding the correct answer of this question remains not barren. More and more cobwebs of the delusions about actuality of the life overcast the wisdom.

According to the Quran:

“…The losers are those who will lose on the Day of Resurrection. Verily, that will be the manifest loss.” (Az-Zumar: 15)

“Verily, the losers are they who lose themselves and their families on the Day of Resurrection. The Zalimun (wrong doers) will be in a lasting torment.” (Ash-Shura: 45)

“(And remember) the Day when He (Allah) will gather you (all) on the Day of Gathering---that will be the Day of mutual loss and gain…” (At-Taghabun: 9)

We see the people at the race track to surpass others in the competition of worldly gains at every cost, putting their Faith, conscience and even they are ready to bet their moral asset. Why? Because to them winning in this earthly life is the win in fact. But is being a winner in this temporary life actually a real win? The Quran tells us the thing far different from our conception. In the Quran we find the Day of Reckoning named ‘Yaum ut Taghabun’. It means that true ‘win’ or ‘loss’ will be the win or the loss when man will be called to account on the Day of Judgment.

Only on that Day it will be clear who were taken in this worldly life by the deception and who proved to be adroit. Who cast all of their means in a false business and who were so clever to save their capital going lost in spurious enterprise? Who had exhausted whole of their energies and capabilities, efforts and time in worthless activities and who had invested them in a fruitful venture and gained real profit as compared to the earlier ones who had been subject to the guile in understanding the reality of this worldly life.

A materialist may deem the glitters of the transitory period of this fleeting life but what is everlasting and useful in the life Hereafter is man’s Faith and Belief and his righteous good deeds done with intention of getting expiated from his sins will be in great success.
