Political Gurus and Bleeding Karachi

Spirituality is actually a matter mostly related to man’s earthly living. The more man is spiritually raised high, above the materialistic indulgences, more his heart gets purified. When man’s inner world is cleansed, flawlessness is evident in his outer life. His wholesomeness impresses his surroundings. Fairness and honesty bring positive impacts in his dealings with the people around him. But unfortunately, Sufis, who are thought the paragons of spirituality, are antagonistic towards and steer clear of the material life. In the Sufi order the more the spiritual guide is mystic and obscure, the more his devotees are convinced of his sainthood. Raising any question on his eccentric actions is thought contempt and offence. Sometimes his openly going against the teachings of Shariah is perceived a latent wisdom, fathomed only by the men of special inner qualities. A critical word uttered from the mouth on apparent wrongfulness of the spiritual personality is thought tantamount to get ruined both in this worldly life and the life Hereafter.

Now look over the leaders of big political parties. In most of the parties the leadership is a hereditary matter, irrespective of suitability in this field it is transferred from ancestors to their descendants as property of the family. In spite of the loud talks about the merits of democracy, tradition of getting the leaders of the party elected is not allowed to take roots. Notwithstanding the moral and mental lowness of the leaders, their self-evident acute political indiscretions like corruption, nepotism, undue and expedient favors, opportunism are open to all. They take decisions, clearly against the interests of the nation and integrity of the country. But their political workers, like the devotees of the Sufis, are too blind of the unpalatable fact to have a critical look on the blunders of their leaders.

They are at the lowest degree among the worst people, as our Holy Prophet, SAW, is reported to have said, no one can expect a good from them and no one is safe from their evil. What used to be the moral disease of the other ignorant and heedless communities, has plagued us only because it starts spreading from the leaders to the people. Their behavior of being mischievous, discontented, greedy to amass, squabbling, spiteful and covetous bring trials and tribulations in the society. The trials and tribulation which we are experiencing in Karachi, perhaps the biggest city in whole Muslim world, is nothing but in result of an ugly tussle between the avaricious political leaders. Each of them is trying to bring the city under his control. Making money through extortion and shares with different mafias, an evil mark of an ethnic group having a strong hold there, has developed as a political culture in this city. And the others want to promote this.

It is really unfortunate that whole of the parties are under the sway of only one or two leaders of every party but no protest on wrong doings rises from the workers and the leaders of the second and third line. Criticizing the spiritual guru is synonymous to getting cursed and spoiling Akherah of the devotees, while speaking out against the viciousness of the party leaders is equivalent to darkening ones political career, getting badly fixed up, but a bit more, getting wiped out for ever.
