Social Justice only Remedial Measure to bring Peace

Voices, no matter what a passive and meek they be and will be able to break the ice or will cross the thick walls of the powerful presidents and prime ministers houses or not, but should be raised for one thing, yes, for only social justice. No human wisdom and no western philosophy and no theory and reason is better way for untangling the complicated social problems than creating an atmosphere of social justice in the light of the Quran and the teachings of the Messenger of Allah, be peace and blessings upon him. Our societies, particularly in the Muslim world, seem rapidly drawing into anarchy in absence of social justice and they can be saved from relapsing deep into chaos and disorder only through guaranteeing the social justice there. We are in a multi-facet plight, facing economic crisis, administrative bungling and social disorder. All this cause us serious internal conflicts and hostilities resulting in open clashes of different classes of the people or a state of revolt against the rulers.

Due to the connivance of the ruling elites to the social and economic gap between different classes gradually got widened and gulf between the privileged and deprived groups has grown too great to be easily bridged. The rich political elements, turn by turn getting in power deliberately divested themselves of the responsibilities to work for a good change in the life condition of the poor. Their selfishness, dishonesty, opportunism, their lust for power and wealth, their plundering caused a lava of hatred and revenge under the surface came on the point of eruption. Now the same fire has started blazing out of control still have a carefree attitude that the fire of ill sentiments burning in the cottages of the poor is too far from their castles to turn them into ashes. Now the same fire has started blazing out of control and its heat is felt not only in the drawing rooms but in their luxurious bedrooms also.

The rulers and the privileged class have been not only unjust and hard-hearted but with their political manipulating tricks they have kept entire system of justice in shackles of their own expediencies. They are always busy in their foxy game denying the open facts. Their cunning stances are tissues of lies and fabrications. They make promises only for breaking them like toys. Now what is happening in some Arab Muslim countries and in Balochistan and Fata in Pakistan is a chain of reaction by those who have been wronged for decades. Instead of addressing their problems whenever they raised their voices of sufferings, they were given tranquillizers of military operations to crush their voices. Instead of addressing the problems of the aggrieved people, basic point of the rulers has been maintaining an unjust political, economic and social status quo. Restlessness is obvious everywhere and the reason is the same—absence of social justice.

Take the example of Pakistan. The country came into existence as a great Gift of Allah, the Most Exalted. One hundred million Muslims of subcontinent Indo-Pak stood behind the demand for a free and self sovereign homeland of their own and it was when the leaders of the Pakistan Movement pledged to make this country a practical laboratory of Islam. When they committed that Pakistan would be a place not only verdant, productive and fertile fields but also a land with the motto of brotherhood, love, peace, sympathy and mutual cooperation. Living under the dominant Hindu majority the Muslims community was immensely in thirst of Adl (Justice).

Justice is one of the greatest factors to enhance the speed of prosperity and ensure a successful shining future of the people. Justice elevates the spirit of working hard, aspires to new and bright horizons of talents, promotes the creativity and encourages the productivity. Destructive inclinations can be rectified only with the assurance of justice. What we are suffering now is the result of denying justice to all. Keeping tight rein on social evils became difficult because we could not establish a healthy system on the basis of Islamic concept of justice. Moral diseases of venality, avarice and corruption at every level are outcome of setting the artificial standards of justice, for special classes different from the lower classes of the society. We penalized a bank defaulter of only thousands but our spurious justice system lets free the political giants who defrauded the nation and the country in trillions. Wrongs affected whole of our collective body because we failed to redress them through provision of a fair justice.

Justice is not only the name of a judicial structure for timely and perfect decisions to settle the disputes in the court rooms. It has to be manifest when we are at traffic signals, queue up in shopping stores, when we take seats in public transport, on entering and leaving our work places, when we speak in the meetings. These are the spots and occasions where privileged class, members of the parliament, feudal lords, military officials, bureaucrats and dignitaries of the high ruling elite very frequently kill the justice. Preferential treatment with some and reviling others at any stage is negation of justice.

Justice is actually a moral code, a social value, a collective conduct and behavioral hallmark having its roots in the religious beliefs and conscience of man. It means to provide every citizen of the country equal opportunities. No inequity and favoritism should work when facilities and provisions of basic needs are offered by the state to its people. All should have equal chances of living a respectable life. All the members of the community should have equal status in the eyes of law. All should have a surety of protection from any assault on life, property and honor. Education, health and peace is the need of every citizen and the system assuring social justice is responsible to provide all of these needs without any discrimination of race, caste, colour, language, lawful profession and faith. No one should remain deprived of food to eat, clothes to wear, accommodation to live and medicine to get cured. Life, property and honour of all the people and not of only the special class of the society, should be regarded inviolable and honoured. Unfortunately, no evidence of justice, moral values and unbigoted political system has tangibly supported the claims of the leaders why Pakistan was founded. Bigotry, injustice, plundering and strengthening a highly privileged on one hand and a class greatly stripped away of the basic human right on the other hand have been ridiculing us so far.
