Muslim Brotherhood Respects Right of Protest and Demonstration

Blogger's Note

Friday, 24 August, some self-proclaimed revolutionist groups, with staunch supporters of deposed president Hosni Mubarak are going to hold rally at Tehreer Square, in the capital city of Egypt to protest against alleged 'Muslim Brotherization' of Egyptian administration and society.

They are mistakenly or mischievously taking the recent steps taken by president Morsi of retiring top military generals (members of SCAF) who were having democratically unjustified powers and erecting obstacles in the smooth running of the presidential functions, a the part of the Muslim Brotherhood's designs to bring the country under its ideological tilts and connotations.

They are trying to stigmatize Morsi's government a fundamentalist religious type of dictatorship. Though apart from the Islamic parties some very influential secular political parties, feeling skeptical of this element and deeming it to be left overs of the previous filthy system, have decided to stay aloof from this scenario. Most of the political elements who had sighed  with the feeling of relief on getting rid of despotic rule have warmly supported Dr. Morsi's decision to send the over aged and power hungry generals. Here in the lines below we have the statement by Secretary General of the Muslim Brotherhood in this regard.
Munir Ahmed Khalili

Dr. Mahmoud Hussein, Secretary General of the Muslim Brotherhood, reiterated the Brotherhood’s commitment to respect for freedom of opinion and peaceful demonstration guaranteed to all Egyptians.

He further stressed the need for exercising such freedoms within the boundaries of the country’s Constitution and law, and without causing damage to state institutions and facilities, or to private property – and without harming or hindering people's interests.

In a press statement on Wednesday, Hussein said: "The Brotherhood is working hard to encourage fellow Egyptians to commit to peaceful protest and civilized behavior.

"The Brotherhood will continue all its regular daily activities in its headquarters and offices in provinces across Egypt on August 24 and 25, 2012 as usual."
