ANP Venting Spleen On The Ideological Origins Of Pakistan

I am not in favour of stigmatizing the political element to be 'anti Pakistan' only because of differences in approach and views. In democratic system all the political parties have the freedom of working with different points of view and heir particular political charters. Patriotism and loyalty to the nation and commitment to the ideological objectives of the country is only stipulation laid ahead. Every nation has set forth such conditions not only binding down politicians but also Armed Forces, civil servants and even business community. National dogmas and interests are kept everywhere at the top. In America no one can find latitude to change the country into a communist state and there is a little chance for any politically enterprising element to work for democratizing and capitalizing China disregarding its ideological character.

Pakistan is a country founded with the will of 100 million Muslims of subcontinent. Because there was a huge ideological gulf between the Hindus and the Muslims; deep differences in beliefs, moral values, historical heroes; so they decided to have a free land of their own with no hindrance in practicing their religious duties, doing their devotional rituals and following their cultural traits. Preserving their civilization in a separate and sovereign country was one of the main objectives of partition from the Hindu majority of India. The same is called Pakistan Ideology.

During the movement for gaining freedom from the British imperialism and Hindu domination ANP's ideological guru, late Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan was in the adverse camp. Under the sway of Gandhi, boasting to be titled 'Sarhadi Gandhi' he was one of the bitterest opponents of the idea of a country free from Hindu hegemony. Though the people of NWFP had rejected him by voting for Pakistan in a referendum on the issue but instead of respecting the will of the people he spitted venom against Pakistan and the founders of the country whenever he got chance to spew his inner spite.

After establishment of Pakistan the politics of Khan's family and his followers took many turns. Gandhi had his faith in western democracy and was far away from totalitarian system followed by he communist block. But Khan's followers had their clear leftist inclination. Not only their title 'surkh posh' (wearing the caps and shirts of red colour), their policies had been the evidence of their leftist doctrines. When Russia attacked Afghanistan, instead they would stand by their Pashtun brothers they supported the invaders forces. During that time late Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan stayed in Afghanistan but he breathed his last and preferred to get buried there. Now when downtrodden Afghans are subject to the ferocity of cruel American and NATO forces, ANP has again chosen to side with the aggressors and not with the Pashtuns.

Since long most of the political parties wanted them bring in main political stream but they still preferred to be restricted to racial and territorial politics with Pakhtunistan stunt. As the leader of National Awami Party, Khan Abdul Wali Khan took many turns. He wrote a book viewing that Pakistan was creation of the British conspiracies and not a phenomenon occurred by the will of the Muslims of the subcontinent. Policies of ANP (name given to NAP after it was banned) are still not free of the connotations of their ideological elders. They have a very soft corner in their hearts for India.

Very recently after getting the name of NWFP changed according to its choice, ANP first disparaged the leadership of Pakistan Movement and now one more step ahead towards its basic anti Pakistan nature and core ideology of united India (Akhand Bharat). Haji Adeel, one of its leaders declares Raja Dahir their hero against Muhammad bin Qasim who conquered Sindh and some parts of the Punjab. Ironically he labeled Muhammad bin Qasim an aggressor who belligerently occupied a big part of India but his party neither slammed Russia nor America of their aggression against the Afghans. The statement is a proof of their similarity of thinking with Indian Hindus who keep extremely negative views about Muhammad bin Qasim, Mehmud Ghaznavi and Shahabudin Ghauri but they think entire Muslim community in India to be an intruder element there.
