An Age:

An Age is millions of years long. 

An Epoch:

An Epoch contains more than an Age.

A Period:

A period contains more than one Epoch.

An Era:

An Era contains more than one Period.

An Eon: الدهر

An Eon contains more than an Era.

Eon is the largest interval of hundreds millions years age ago. Eons are subdivided into Eras

According to the Dinosaur & Paleontology Dictionary the Period is the basic unit of geological time in which a single type of rock system is formed. Two or more Periods comprise a geological Era. Two or more Eras form an Eon. Some periods are divided into Epochs.
