May It Prove Good Omen

Mian Raza Rabbani-led Parliamentary Committee on Constitutional Reforms has at last achieved the goal of getting its 93 points document unanimously approved and signed by all its members from almost all the parties having representation in parliament. Some simple and credulous people may ascribe this event to the engagement of the cricketer Shoaib Malik with Indian tennis star Sania Mirza to be a good emon. Such things are really prone to exaggeration of a bit immature and sensationalist electronic media whose channels are in race to make hullabaloo about this engagement. Cric

Cricket culture has built a particular nature. Girls seem more in the thick of this game. A fast developing trend in the circles of celebrities to be chummy with the cricketers results in the engagements. Shoaib Malik is not such a handsome guy but is successful in requiting his lust for the fame through this way of romance. Some Ayesha Siddiqui, also from India, has made claim to have been already netted and brought in wedlock by the same guy. Wizardry through batting or bowling style brings the girls under spell. A lot of wealth, luxurious life and acquaintance, relations and romance with charming girls and then leave them to rue in repentance on ruination of their virginity and honour!

Now come from wedlock to the political situation remained in deadlock for many days only on the issue what the name to be given to NWFP. Politicians have disloyalty and inconstancy in their nature not less than Shoaib Malik. They are Shoaib Maliks in their own way and own field. It is really astonishing that loggerheads who agree only to disagree at last went along with the points thought never to be settled. Who brokered? The British or the American foreign secretaries, or the Khakees were there to put their weight in a particular scale? What happens and how they behave in the National Assembly for final approval of the draft signed by the committee members and hailed by almost all the sections of the society is still a stiffening question for the nation already greatly strained due to scarcity of the commodities, price hike, law and order situation, terrorism and uncertainty in common life.

Now an army of professional analysts, ever ready with their far off and novel ideas, out to appear on our newly grown but a bit immature electronic media for spreading confusions on the subject. Every TV channel invites two, three or more analysts to split hair. Most of them are either on pay list of one or the other political element or are bound to toe the lines set by the media group owning the channel, so their talk seldom corresponds in concord. Naturally the end is nothing but confusion. Most of the columnists who have risen as the analysts run after salary in 6 figures so are notorious to be Shoaib Maliks of their own type.

Who is winner and who is loser in Constitutional Reforms Committee’s proposals is a big question. What was behind ANP’s obstinacy for renaming the province that it is governing now? Why PML-N first refused to budge on the issue of the name of NWFP and then came to compromise just after Khyber was added as prefix with Pakhtunkhawah? Is there really a sound logic behind?

In fact ANP is winner in this case. Late Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan lived with a dream of Pashtunistan. His son late Wali Khan had the same dream but with a bit change of policy. Asfand Yar Wali Khan is successful in achieving a half fulfillment of the desire of his grandfather. They are dancing and rejoicing on this success with red caps on their heads, long ago used to be sign of their inclination towards communist Russia, but now their hearts have been painted white, concordant with White House in Washington. If fulfillment is still half then what will be the full? Some views are already out and some evil designs still hidden have to come on surface. Tearing apart the ideological based countries to reshape them on racial basis is in the pipe. Pakistan and Saudi Arabia are special targets of a malignancy working for years to engender racial feelings there.

In Balochistan the game is on its high. If the corruption cases against Zardari go ahead in demurring ‘Pakistan Na Khape’ movement is very likely to start not by any one else but PPP itself. In this case MQM’s game will start for its long awaited hidden agenda. We pray the unanimity of all the parties in Parliamentary Committee on Constitutional Reforms prove a blessing and not bad omen. Evil designs of the foes in friendly guise within the country and malevolent out may not succeed in harming existence and integrity of our country.
