Impacts of a Firm Faith in the Day of Judgment

Teachings of Islam are not confined only to some customary rites and rituals of worship for pleasing our Creator and Lord. In the Quran and Sunnah there comes a much more comprehensive term Ibadah to elucidate unconditional submission and obedience to the Lord of the world, Allah, the Most Exalted. Apart from five times prayers (Salah), alms (Zakat), fasting (Saum )and pilgrimage (Hajj), leading a responsible and all-embracing life encompassing all the material spheres of life if one keeps the commandments of Allah and teachings of His Messenger SAW in mind and follows them then is regarded to having met the requirements of Ibadah. In this sense every moment of life, if spent in consistence with the Will of Allah, is Ibadah.

Fundamental parts of Faith are that not any other but only Allah is our originator, sustainer and ruler; to make man aware of His Will He sent His Messengers; the Messengers conveyed their Master’s Message to the people of their times; an unseen creature, the angels, are functioning their duties to implement Allah’s Will to run the world in order and all the dead will be resurrected on a fixed Day, the Day of Judgment, to make man stand accountable in front of Allah and being quested about his good or bad deeds in his life.

In these parts of Faith the concept of resurrection and standing accountable for our evil or noble acts and then being rewarded or punished is very significant. Believing this or the otherwise leaves tremendous impacts on man’s worldly life. Either one repents, mends his ways and starts living the life of a sincere and God-fearing Muslim or chooses to go astray. Taking the course of deliberately going astray is an abrogation of commitment with Islam and denying living the life of a reformed Muslim. From here sincerity and pretense take opposite lines with a clear distinction between the mindsets, worldview and their behaviours they grow.

We find this difference evident in our ruling elites, politicians, military generals, bureaucrats, businessmen and most of the liberal intellectuals (of religious type also). Despite their claims of being Muslims what completely or partially they are devoid of is certainty in their Faith about Aakherah (Day of Judgment). Though most of them enjoy their lives, are splendidly dressed, palace like houses are their abodes, large variety of delicious dishes are served on their dinning- tables but due to lacking in certainty about resurrection and accountability on the Day of Judgment they are away from honesty, trustworthiness and truthfulness. Whatever they posses is achieved through wrongdoings, exploitation and unlawful ways. They do not feel ashamed in demonstrating evils like expediency, killing of their conscience, bribery and sycophancy. They are notoriously tainted with corruption.

On the contrary, those who have firm Faith that they will be questioned in Aakherah about what they do and what they gain in this world, they lead a fair, careful and responsible life. We see their lives are quite balanced. They give whatever is the right of their kith and kin and of those whom they find in need. Just to earn the pleasure of their Lord, they spend in His way regardless of what they posses, is a little or a lot. There are not sunk in rakish, sensual pleasures and mischievous behaviour.

The difference mentioned above is the result of nothing else but of a certainty in Belief in Aakherah.
